Arley and Joe have been playing together since 1971. They formed several bands with other musicians and Torn Page evolved in 1996. The final version of Torn Page formed in July 2004 when Dan joined the band on the last day of the month.
Arley named the band Torn Page because while reading his Bible on the toilet one day his toddler son, Arley Owens III, burst in and took it away from him, tearing a page in Revelation in the process.
