Arley Iven Owens, Jr. was born in Kermit, Texas December 8, 1953. His parents, Arley Owens Sr. and Edna Mae Stephens Owens, resided seven miles away in Wink, where Arley grew up. He taught himself how to play the guitar and piano in his early teens and credits his brother-in-law Claude Mills for teaching him how to bar chord. He was already writing poems and stories at the time, and started composing songs.
He resides on his ranch in Midland County Texas with his lovely wife Cristi, where they raise hogs and meat goats. The name of his ranch is the Shorty Mae in homage to his dad, nicknamed Shorty, and his mom, whose middle name was Mae. He has an older sister, Barbara Mills, and a younger sister, Sandra ‘Sandi’ Martin.
He currently has 8 published Novels that are available on this website and most major book retailers worldwide.
Arley is 5’10 ¼”, has brown hair (with a lot of gray) and hazel green eyes. His facial hair is black (again, with a lot of gray).
